Solar charge controller Victron SmartSolar MPPT 75|15

No rating yet

Product description

The Victron SmartSolar MPPT 75|15 is an ultra-fast MPPT solar charge controller capable of charging batteries with a voltage of 12 or 24 V. The device is equipped with a terminal connection for DC loads. It features the same advanced MPP tracking as the more powerful MPPT RS series and achieves excellent performance in cloudy weather and partial shading conditions. The SmartSolar MPPT 75|15 is so efficient (over 98% under ideal conditions), that it does not need a cooling fan. It features a fully programmable charging algorithm, as well as the Battery Life algorithm, which prevents lead-acid battery degradation. The SmartSolar MPPT 75|15 has a VE.Direct port for communication with a GX device, and built-in Bluetooth allowing for configuration and monitoring via the VictronConnect app and the Victron Remote Management (VRM) online portal.

Additional specifications and description

What is an MPPT Solar Charge Controller?

A solar charge controller, also known as a solar regulator, is a battery charge regulator connected between the solar array and the battery.

The solar output has to be regulated so the battery is charged correctly and does not get overcharged.

By continuously tracking the Maximum Power Point, it can extract the most power possible from the solar arrays and use it to charge the battery.

What is the use case?

The SmartSolar MPPT 75|15 solar charge controller is designed for use with small off-grid and grid-connected systems, charging 12 or 24 V battery banks.

Thanks to its compact size, it is ideal for portable systems in vehicles and off-grid equipment such as illumination for a billboard, CCTV and alarm systems, remote weather stations etc.

Overview and features

The SmartSolar MPPT 75|15 is a compact, easy-to-use solar charge controller with an advanced design and rich feature set. It is lightweight, efficient and completely silent.

The device features a fully programmable battery charging algorithm, as well as the intelligent “Battery Life” algorithm designed to prevent lead-acid battery degradation.

It automatically detects the battery pack voltage and uses feedback from its built-in thermal probe to adjust the charging voltage.

The VE.Direct port is used for data communication, enabling local and remote monitoring and management via a GX device such as the Cerbo GX or other.

Efficient and performant

The SmartSolar MPPT 75|15 charge controller is designed from the ground up with efficiency in mind, reaching a conversion efficiency of over 98%!

The device utilises Victron’s advanced Maximum Power Point detection algorithm, which optimises performance in partial shading conditions and cloudy weather.

Victron’s SmartSolar MPPT 75|15 enables customers to extract the maximum power from their photovoltaic panels with as little waste as possible.

Design and installation considerations

The Victron SmartSolar MPPT 75|15 features a tough plastic enclosure that guarantees safe operation and protects it from damage.

The ingress protection rating for the electronic components is IP43 and the rating for the connection terminals is IP22.

Safety can be further improved with the optional MPPT WireBox-S cover for the DC terminals, this accessory is recommended if the device is installed in an area accessible to non-technicians.

The three LEDs on the front indicate the current charging mode or issues with the operation of the device.

The Victron SmartSolar MPPT 75|15 is passively cooled and will output at its full rated current at temperatures up to 40 °C.

Built-in protections

The charge controller has multiple integrated safety features, including load short circuit and over-temperature protection.

In addition to the operating temperature, the device monitors the battery voltage and will turn off the load output if the voltage is low, and shut down if the voltage is excessive.
