Overview
The Vitocal 100-A 16 kW is a cost-effective solution for homeowners wishing to upgrade to a heat pump with minimal effort and expense.
The heat pump features many advanced technologies that improve its performance and longevity, such as a variable speed, compliant twin scroll compressor, and an innovative gold-plated heat exchanger that reduces defrosting time and provides excellent corrosion resistance.
Users can control the pump using its built-in LCD interface or remotely with the Vitocal 100-A Touch control or Touch-Multi optional accessories.
Application
The Viessmann Vitocal 100-A can be installed in new homes, but it is primarily designed to be easy to retrofit into existing homes equipped with underfloor heating or water radiators.
Multiple Vitocal 100-A heat pumps can be arranged in a cascade system of up to seven units if the application requires a heating system with a greater output.
How it works
Heat pumps function in a very similar way to a refrigerator and use the same fundamental refrigeration cycle. The difference is that heat pumps can reverse the direction of the cycle in order to provide heating or cooling by transferring the heat from outside, inside or vice-versa.
The Viessmann Vitocal 100-A 16 kW absorbs the heat energy from the air outside your home and transfers it to a water medium. The heated water can warm your home using conventional radiators or underfloor heating, and it is also suitable for domestic hot water supply.
Design and features
Please note that, this version is designed to use 400 V three-phase power.
The Viessmann Vitocal 100-A 16 kW uses a monobloc design, where all components, apart from the hot water cylinder, are located inside the heat pump unit itself.
The heat pump uses the R32 refrigerant, making it safe and environmentally friendly. Additionally, all components of the refrigeration system are contained within the unit, meaning that no refrigerant certificate is necessary to install the device.
The Vitocal 100-A 16 kW is fully compatible with Viessmann indoor water cylinders, which combine a heating water buffer cylinder and a DHW (domestic hot water) cylinder in one unit.
If indoor space is limited, there is also an option for an externally mounted buffer tank, which sits under the pump, and a separate tank for DHW.
Units sold in Bulgaria come equipped with the antifreeze kit, which uses a resistive heating element to prevent ice from forming on the heat exchanger or on the bottom of the unit (which also serves as the condensation pan).
